As proteoforms are influenced by physiological and pathological processes, the measurement of proteoforms can bring diagnostic value to clinical medicine. Based on this concept, we established top-down mass spectrometry methods to study a glycoform of transferrin (β2-transferrin) and identify amino acid variants of hemoglobin, and applied them to clinical laboratory testing.
